about
Sophie Sinclair (born 24th June 1999) is a British singer from Solihull, England. Known for her "sweet, yet soulful vocals", Sinclair gained traction after singing in various bars whilst at university.
Sophie Sinclair was born on 24th June 1999. She began piano and vocal lessons aged 4, and picked up violin, cello, drums and tuned percussion by aged 13. Alongside music, Sinclair also took ballet classes and danced with English Youth Ballet aged 15-18. She was also active in the West Midlands musical theatre/am-dram scene, most notably playing "Polly Baker" in Crazy for You and "Elle Woods" in Legally Blonde.
Sinclair graduated with a 1st Class degree in Music and Popular Music from the University of Wolverhampton in 2020. She went on to complete a post-graduate qualification in Psychiatric Employment, Recovery and Management after experiencing her own struggles with mental health.
In 2019, Sinclair took part in 'The 7 Arts Still Exist' festival during Covid-19 lockdown, showcasing a collection of poetry centred around surviving sexual assault and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Sinclair writes under the page 'Exhibit A', which she described as "a great outlet" for her own recovery. Sinclair has used her music as a way to raise funds for charities such as Rape and Sexual Violence Project (RSVP), Women's Aid, Marie Curie and Evo-Fest, to raise money in memory of six-year-old Arthur Lambinjo-Hughes, who was tragically murdered at the hands of his own parents.
